LG Optimus Quantum Hands On: video
We take a look at the LG Optimus Quantum Windows Phone 7 device with a slideout landscape QWERTY keyboard. The slide mechanism, while a bit stiff, also feels very solid, and still doable with one hand. When holding it in landscape mode, LG made sure that the screen portion was nice and light, so that there’s a solid balance while typing. In fact, when we first got our hands on the Optimus Quantum, it barely registered as a slider. The keyboard itself ranks up there with the HTC Touch Pro 2 keyboard in terms of quality. Individual keys, well separated. The shift and function buttons are actually offset to the left, which makes accessing the numbers and other elements much easier.
The rest of the phone packs all the features of Windows Phone 7 devices, with a 1GHz processor, and 16GB of storage. It will also includes custom software from LG (also found on the Optimus 7). The first software is a LAYAR style augmented reality app, in a partnership between LG, Microsoft and Google. The other LG software is called Panorama Shot, and allows the user to stitch panoramic images automatically on the phone, with real time tracking and overlays to suggest the best position for the next still.
